We have had a rather busy weekend at the British Championships. Things did not get off to a good start on Saturday morning when it decided to rain on us – fortunately we had the club tent and got it up just in time before we got too wet.
Saturday was the individuals and top ten results were –
Top result went to Nikki Crawford who was on the Podium with 3rd in W70L.
Sue Hands 5th W65L
Sally Calland 7th W35S
Andy French 6th M45S
Simon Branford 3rd Open Long
Kirsty Staunton 3rd Open Short
Then on Sunday we had the relays - rather heavy going running across the terrain and hard work.
Men’s Short – Philip Harvey, John Whittingham, Simon Branford were 17 out of 29 teams
Women’s Short – Kirsty Staunton, Sue Hands, Nicky Harvey were 14 out of 21 teams
Men’s 60 – Chris Branford, Philip Cooper, Keith Henderson were 16 out of 31 teams
Junior Ad-Hoc – Darren Whittingham, Eve Conway (borrowed from AIRE)Becky Whittingham were 9th. Unfortunately Becky injured herself at the last control and is now on crutches and out of action for a considerable time with knee and ligament damage – so we wish her well.
Unlike the JK Relays where the age groups were just right for us – this time we were well off the age groups and this is reflected in the results. Even so we still had some very creditable results.
